Microbiological

This piece was designed for the use of the laser-welder, a wonderful machine that allows you to heat up a very tiny area of metal and 'weld' it to another. The idea was to design and create a piece of jewellery that couldn't be made using traditional silversmithing techniques.

The idea of this piece came from cells. I wanted to create a somewhat kinetic piece of jewellery, with a nice contemporary feel. I began extracting the complicated textures and combinations of DNA and various cells to create something more minimalistic.

This piece was made from copper guilding metal, and the darker metal has been rhodium plated, and the lighter metal silver.

Inside each of the 'rings' are 9 beautiful little black and pink natural pearls, and I feel they finish off the piece nicely.
